Grayson
I heard a car pull into my owner’s driveway. I wagged my tail happily even though I didn't know who it was. The person got out. A young friendly looking woman, in bright orange fur, or at least it looked like fur, came in. She smiled at me and I loved her smile. I wagged my tail and yipped hoping she'd come say hi to me and she did. She rubbed my belly and scratched my ears. It was a little piece of heaven. After a while she left and I wanted so badly to go with her. For a few days after that my owner was acting different. My home was changing, things were being taken away. I was confused and scared. It reminded me of being left in my old owners backyard chained up to a pole till I was 10 months old. Was this new owner going to do the same? I didn't want that. I woke up to my owner putting a leash on me and taken out to the car. I was happy we were going somewhere. After a while we pulled into a strange driveway and I noticed a terrible smell and heard an awful sound. Dogs were barking and crying and wanting to get free. I wasn't home anymore. What was this place? I froze and wouldn't move. I got dragged inside and taken to a cold, hard and dark cage. I lay on the ground scared and terrified. I watched my owner leave. I barked and pleaded with her;
.
PLEASE MOMMY! Don't leave me! I'll be a good boy I promise! I won't chew on anything! Please! I saw the door shut and now all I heard was dogs barking, some scared, some frustrated, others were losing hope, and some just like me were still pleading to their owners. I lay down and cried; why would my mommy leave me? What did I do wrong? Does she hate me? Was I a bad dog? I saw many people come and go. I pleaded with each one asking if they had seen my mommy. No one looked at me or responded. I lay on the hard old floor and accepted my fate and finally, I gave up trying. Two days went by while the doors opened and closed as normal. People came and went. Some dogs left with new owners. I sat there not moving, I'd lost hope in people. I'd been abandoned twice. Then I heard my name and noticed a familiar smell. It was that girl. I glanced up but my hope for Love was shattered and gone. Was she too going to leave me like the rest? She sat down beside me and talked to me for quite a while but went by so very fast. She pets my head through the cage. She looked at me and told me don't worry I'll get you out of here I promise. I promise to save you and get you a home. A home! Did she just say a home?! I yipped excited, I wanted to go home. I licked her fingers through the cage. Oh please, oh please take me home! She smiled, I loved that smile. It gave me my hope again. She had to leave. I was sad and wanted her to stay and cuddle with me. For a week she came back every day and sat and pets me through the cage bars feeding me treats and talking to me. I would sit and listen and lick her fingers if she'd start to cry. She'd come into the cage and sit with me. She'd cuddle and pet me till I'd fall asleep. One day she didn't come till late. Her attitude was different it was perky and happy. I got happy too, I nibbled on her fingers through the cage. I want to go home. When are you taking me home? She smiled and pets me. She left for a bit then came back, but this time she was holding a leash. A LEASH, A LEASH! Was I going home? Oh I so badly wanted to go home. I yipped and barked, take me home! Take me home! I LOVE YOU! The leash slipped around my neck. I followed her happily dragging her out of there. I wasn't going to let her get left behind. She's not going to get abandoned like I was and I was making sure of it. We stopped out front and she sat down with me and hugged me and kissed me and cried into my neck.
I told you I'd keep my promise Grayson. Grayson, was she giving me a new name? She kissed my neck again, I felt relieved. She took me to her car but I was scared to jump in so she helped me up. We rode in the car together and she cried and laughed with me telling me how much I'm going to enjoy my home. I wanted to go! I got a brother! Two kids to call my own! A mommy and daddy to love me! I was so excited! We pulled up and I loved it at first sight.
The two girls I loved them, they kissed and petted me. This was home it had to be. My brother picked on me and didn't like me but I was so happy to have a brother to play with I didn’t care. Now the girl who my owners called Becca kept coming to me and taking me to the vet every day.

She told me that I couldn't stay at my new home. Why? What did I do? Was I a bad boy? I didn't chew on anything, I didn't pee in the house, I stayed off the furniture. What did I do? I loved going with Becca, always seeing her happy smile. Hearing her secrets and stories. I felt loved with her, I want a girl or boy like her to call my own. One who cries to me when they are upset, who will tell me their secrets, about their crushes, how they made new friends or lost friends at school, who'd cuddle with me all night long, and kiss me on my head and neck, tell me I'm a good boy. I want to hear them say I love you Grayson. I want to protect someone. Becca told me she wished I could come home with her. She'd cry saying I'm sorry I can't take you home. I want a home I'd tell her, I want to be loved forever Becca. I gave her pleading eyes. I begged her Please find me a home, I want to go home, A real home. She pulled me close and cried into my neck. Gray she started crying. I licked her face and helped her get rid of her tears. My soul ached, I could feel her pain. She looked into my eyes and cried. Gray I promise to find you a forever home. I promise, even if it's the last thing I do. I want a home Becca. I again licked her tears goodbye. She promised, she kept her last promise. Why wouldn't she keep this one? All I want is a home, one with a permanent family, maybe even a brother or sister or two brothers or sisters, kids to call my own, and a mommy and daddy to love me till I die. A forever home. Is that too much for a puppy to ask? A Home.......
